Mental Health Billing
Mental health billing requires expertise. Behavioral health benefits are often administered by third parties. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can provide free counseling for patients, but often require self-referral from the patient before the first session, otherwise claims are denied. Mental health providers need and their billing agencies need to be aware that EAP providers are not insurance companies. Close attention needs to be paid to contract regulations such as no show billing, authorizations, treatment plans, diagnostic/CPT limitations, timely filing requirements, and visit limits. Managed care billing for mental health can also be complex. Authorizations are often required, and proper attention needs to be paid on a constant basis with respect to patient eligibility.
"Central Ohio Practice Management is by far the best billing service I have used in my 20 years in practice! My claims are paid quickly. They are professional, always treating my clients with respect, and are helpful in all practice matters. I recommend them highly and without reservations."
